How to get your cat out of a tree

I recently had the misfortune of having my cat get stuck up in a tree. He’s an indoor cat who managed to escape the comforts of our home and get himself stuck about 50ft up a pine tree. I was horrified

After about 5 hours of waiting for himself to climb down, I finally worked up the courage to climb up and mount a kitty rescue. Keep in mind im terrified of heights. So I broke out my ladder, got up about as I high I could with that, 10ft, then had to scramble up branch by branch the remaining 40ft to get to where he was.

Once I reached him, my cat meowed the most terrifying meow that I had ever heard. I could tell he was scared, exhausted and relieved that I was up there. I immediately scooped his sap covered body up, shoved him in my backpack, and made our way back down to bowl full of Fancy Feast and some fresh water.

For those of you thinking to yourself why didn’t I just call the fire department, you have to remember that in these financially cash strapped days, fire departments will not conduct kitty rescue, so there goes that option.

So what do you do if you find yourself in a similar predicament? Well realistically you have two options.

  1. Climb up and get him yourself, or find someone willing to climb up for you. But be prepared to offer some type of financial reward.
  2. Hire a tree climbing service and wait all day until they have a crew free to come to your cats rescue. Be prepared to pay upwards of $200 for said rescue.

If you can think of another option feel free to let me know. In any case, if you and your cat ever find yourself in this situation, I wish both of you tons of luck.
